The Letter S

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter S

S is for Sisters

She is your mirror, shinning back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who see’s you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defence attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days she’s the reason you wish you were an only child. Barbra Alpert

There are many ways to be and have a sister. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be related by blood.

You've been there through out all that I've done,
And our friendship is more than true.
We are two, but we stand as one,
And I don't know what I would do without you.

You're always there when I need you,
And I can't believe all the things that we've been through.
No one ever gets me the way you do,
And it's all because you're just you.

You are my best friend, and I want to thank you,
Because you've always brought out the best in me.
You always find a way to make me smile when i'm felling blue
And when I’m sad you always cheer me up and make me happy.

I don't think you will ever really understand
How you've touched my heart, and made me who I am.
I don't think you could ever know just how special you are to me,
Because you're a better friend then anyone could ever be.

I hope you will forever be my best sister and my friend,
Because I know we will be best sisters till the end.
I will never forget you even if we are in the biggest fight,
I know will get through it, because we are too tight, and it just wouldn't feel right.

You'll always be in my heart,
No matter how bad things get.
And we will never have to grow apart,
Because we will look back at those times and hope to never forget.

So this one's for me and you
To always help remember,
That miracles do come true,
Because you're my friend forever.

Reputation -A single lie destroys a whole reputation of integrity.
Baltasar Gracian

Respect - That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.

The Letter P

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter P

P is for Pickle

The birth of the pickle

Once a cucumber has reached the perfect ripeness, it is harvested with love and care. One can either prepare the cucumber as a delicious raw vegetable or depending on what type of pickle you wish the cucumber to become you can bathe it in brine juice. Now I love cucumbers period, but I am also a pickle fiend. I think nothing about grabbing a jar of dill pickles and poking a fork inside the open jar to retrieve a nice thick crisp cold dill pickle. Oh to hear the crunch and feel the tart juices tantalize my taste buds. Now that’s an amazing taste.

During my vacation to Myrtle Beach a few years ago, I was introduced to a couple different things regarding a 2 of my favourite things. The first was the way they prepared their hamburgers. Now I’m not one that likes onions on my hamburger, but was very surprised when my hamburger was served and there were onions on them. The cool thing was that the onions were deep fried with batter, aka – onion rings. I absolutely loved it. Now the second thing that I was introduced to was deep fried pickles. That’s right, deep fried pickles. If you haven’t heard of them, they do exist. If you have heard of them but have never tried them, go for it. They are so good. OMG…I could have a platter of them for dinner and I’d be more than satisfied!

Fried pickles
Fried pickles are a snack food found commonly in the American South. It is made by deep-frying a sliced battered dill pickle.Fried Dill Pickles were popularized by Bernell "Fatman" Austin in 1963 at the Duchess Drive In located in Atkins, Arkansas. The Fatman's Recipe is only known to his family and used once each year at the annual Picklefest in Atkins, held each May. The recipe for Fried pickle at Wikibooks is a general one. Fried pickles are served at food festivals and menus of individual and chain restaurants nationwide. They can be eaten as an appetizer or as an accompaniment to other dishes. Fried pickles are frequently served with a ranch or other creamy sauce for dipping.

The Letter O

Todays blog is brought to you by the letter O

O is for O.M.G

Nobody says you must laugh, but a sense of humour can help you overlook the unattractive, tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected, and smile through the day” (Ann Landers)

In life everyone one has those OMG moments. Those moments that seem to come out of no where, leaving you speechless. I’ve had my fair share of those moments believe me. There were many times I was put on the spot in all stages of my life. When I was younger I called them “holy shit, you’re kidding me!” moments. Then they became “what the f**k just happened?” moments. Now they are called “OMG” or, depending on the moment “OMFG” moments.

Not to long ago I was placed in a situation where I wanted to scream out “OMG”, but work ethics and dignity over-ruled. It’s rather hard to keep ones wits about them when they are in a room with 3 others being told your behaviour needs to be put in check. With as much grace and dignity as I could gather I swallowed the urge to scream out those much needed alphabetical letters and took it all on the chin. Oh it hurt and it hurt a lot, but over time and some much needed compassion from others I am now able to laugh it off and even made a few jokes about it. That’s not to say I’ll ever forget, but using humour does help to make it through the days. So next time you find yourself in an “OMG” situation, trying thinking about something humorous as you swallow back those letters. It does work!

The Letter N

Todays blog is brought to you by the letter N

N is for...well N

The letter N is the first letter of a very important word in the English language: No. Many people claim to have trouble saying "no," while many kids complain that their parents say "no" too much. Regardless of your personal feelings on the word "no" it is clear that it depends on the N for its first letter. The famous kids chant Na-na-na-na-na-naaaaa, used to taunt unwitting victims on the playground for generations, also depends on the letter N. Well, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to lose that N chant.... BUT plenty of other neat words need N in order to exist as well. Nobody could write about a new experience without the letter N, for example, nor could they tell someone necessary news about their needs. Nope, its clear that we can't say No when asked if N is an important letter in English!

Fun facts about the Letter N

N is one of the six letters provided to the final contestants in the Wheel of Fortune game show (R, S, T, L, N and E).
Next only to T, N is the second most commonly used consonant in the English language
