2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….7th of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter G

G is for Grocery Aisle Hogs

There are a few chores I really don’t like doing and one is grocery shopping. The cost of living has sky-rocketed over the last decade including the cost of a basic necessity of life called “food”. I consider myself a pretty thrifty shopper and since they brought it the “Price Comparison” shopping it makes watching my money leave my hands and be placed in a cash register a “wee” bit better, although the savings still don’t justify the small amount that I did buy. Anyway I am getting off track here.

It doesn’t matter what day or the time of the day I go I always seem to run into what I like to call the grocery aisle hog. Those people that like to walk down the middle of the aisle and then stop to look at something and block the whole aisle with their cart. I always try to at least shimmy my cart over to the side in order for people to pass me when I want to stop. One time I got so perturbed at a person who did this that I turned my cart around and decided to go down a different aisle. A few others followed my suit since this person had no intention on even trying to move their cart to let others pass. As it turned out, a few aisles across I saw this person coming and since I was already a bit pissy at them I decided to show them what it was like, so I purposely hogged the aisle and pretended to be looking for a certain item. I knew she was waiting to pass me but I didn’t budge. I had to snicker when she did a huge huff, turned her cart around and went the other way. I did hear her say “some people have no consideration!

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….6th of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter F

F is for Facebook Status Posts

Ah the joys of Social Networking, what a wonderful way to stay in touch with family and friends. I do love using Facebook for this reason. I have family and friends that live in other Provinces as well as other Countries so Facebook is a blessing for me. It also saves on the cost long distance calls. It’s wonderful to catch up with loved ones and to share the joyous moments as well as the sad moments with them. I love seeing the pictures of them and their families that they post as it keeps them close to my heart. I find myself smiling, laughing and yes even crying at some pictures that have been posted. The thing that really is a pet peeve of mine is when people post the most ridiculous facebook status updates.

Steps up onto the podium of Facebook. Clears my throat…….

Now I’m not trying to sound harsh, and I do feel bad that you are not feeling well or that a visit to the dentist was not a good one, but I really don’t want to know how bad it hurt or that you have problems with the lining of your jaw. We all have bad days at work and come home to problems that have occurred there as well, but I really don’t want to know how lazy your spouse is or how you are so mad at your kids that you could just scream or that your BFF made a move on your boyfriend. I’m not really interested that you are taking a nap in the middle of the day or how bored you are because there is nothing to do, and let’s not forget all the baby mama or baby daddy drama! Good grief, that stuff should be kept to personal messages not the damn status updates. I had a family member and a friend that made this their daily status so I sent them a message to maybe keep that stuff to personal messages, and all I got in return was, “don’t like it…delete me. So I did J. I guess some people feel that everyone should have a play by play update of their lives.

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….5th of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter E

E is for Ego

"Big egos are big shields for lots of empty space."

~Diana R. Black~

We've all dealt with a friend, neighbor, co-worker or boss with a big ego. While people with big egos seem confident and even intimidating on the outside, they're most often caused by low self-esteem and a lack of confidence inside. I’ve had more than a few people over the course of my time that have had huge egos making life for others including myself a living hell. I guess it all depends on the person's attitude toward compliments. Of course compliments give you confidence but it's up to the person who gets complimented to decide how to react. Some let the compliments go to their head and soon believe that they are better than anyone else.
A few years back I worked at a place where a co-worker had very love self-esteem so of course we all tried to boost their self-confidence when we could. Maybe it was our fault but after while this person began to think they were better than anyone else and even started running over others in order to get ahead. They began to feel better about themselves but also began to think they WERE better than everyone else.
My how the ego expands when one does not keep it in check!

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….4th of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter D

D is for Dirty Dishes left in the sink.

I really don’t consider myself as being neurotic, but if there is one thing that totally gets me going is leaving dirty dishes in the sink. When I was a kid my older sister and I had the task of clearing the table after dinner and making sure the dishes were washed, dried and put away. I used to hate doing it but over the years it became the normal part of the after dinner chores. I guess that’s why it really gets to me when I see a sink load of dirty dishes that no one has even attempted to do. It’s even worse when the left-over food scrapes are not scraped into the trash can. I had instilled this in my kids as they grew up and now that they are off on their own that chore has reverted back to me. Even with big family and holiday dinners I cannot sit back and NOT do the dishes. I have to have a clean counter in order to be able to sit back and relax.

My sister in law is terrible when it comes to this so I asked her one night how she can manage to leave all the dishes this way. She just shrugged and said nothing so as soon as I had the chance I filled up her sink and did the dishes. I could not believe she just sat there and watched me as we chatted but I said nothing except the odd interruption when I would ask where things went.  After I was done, I sat down and smiled. She never said anything so neither did I. Now when I go over to visit I make sure I stay out of her kitchen and plop myself on her couch where I don’t have to see the mess in the kitchen!

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….3rd of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter C

C is for Chain Letters

If I had $5.00 for every chain letter email I have received over the last few years I’d be able to afford the cost of dinner at a very nice restaurant. Thanks to my email spam I very rarely do get them now but even the spam eater can’t take care of all of them and a few do get through. I had no idea that I was a close friend of the Prince of(insert name of a city) India and that he had left me a huge sum of money when he passed and I was equally surprised that another Prince of a foreign Country needed my help in handling his monetary affairs. All I had to do was give his lawyer my banking information and he would deposit a very large sum of money into my account. Yes, I will just jump on that and send this stranger my banking information…NOT! Although these really are just plain irritating they are pretty much harmless and good for a laugh (unless you are sitting on your brain and send out your bank information to complete strangers).
 Subject: you should try this/

knowing that there are at least a few hundred dollars waiting for
me.  And the best part, IT IS COMPLETELY LEGAL.)

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge……….2nd of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve for the Letter B

B is for  Boredom

When people are constantly complaining that they are bored and yet they do nothing to make excitement in their lives is yet another Pet Peeve of mine. I know a few people that just sit around and complain about life and how bored they are. The young kids today are a good example. If they have completed the last level on their hand held game console or if there is nothing good on TV, they hum and haw for hours about having nothing to do.
When I was a kid there were no electronic games or internet. We had a TV antenna that only gave us maybe 25 TV stations and that was on a good day. We played outside and went knocking on our friend’s door and then spent the entire day outside entertaining ourselves. It’s not just children that seem to find themselves being bored. I know of a few adults who constantly complain about having nothing to do and I am not sure why. If I have a quiet day to myself that is the best I can ask for.
Life is what you make it…If one refuses to use one’s imagination..it will be boring.

2014 A-Z Blogging Challenge..........1st of 26 Pet Peeves

My Pet Peeve For The Letter A

A is for Arm pit hair.

One really big pet peeve of mine is women who do not do the landscaping when it comes to their underarms. Not only is it very unattractive but to me it’s just plain gross. There is nothing worse than being close to another woman and for some reason she raises her arm and I find myself on the outskirts of her armpit jungle. I swear some women really do need a mini weed wacker to get through the growth. Now I’m not saying a woman MUST keep this area hair free, but if they don’t then for gosh sakes at least keep that area covered and well deodorized for the sake of everyone else. I’ll be honest and say that even on men  a greeting mat of hair adorning their armpits is not attractive and ohhhhhhh lordy especially on a man who has just spent the last hour working out. Now call me weird, but male and female alike that choose not to keep this area hair free should at least do a small amount of trimming. There are many products out in today’s market that makes it very simple and easy. I don’t blame anyone for not “waxing” there because holy hell that is just plain torture! Call me old fashion but soap and a razor does the job just as well. J

I know there are many famous female people who do not use the underarm landscaping and in fact one of my favourite actresses prefers the “oh naturel” look and that is Julia Roberts, but she has enough class to not flaunt it in other peoples space. I feel if one does choose to keep the natural look then at least keep up the maintenance and upkeep keeping the length and pit fragrance to a minimal!
