Another item off my Bucket List :)

Another item has now been scratched off my Bucket List. I rode on the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls. It has to be the most awesome experience I have had in a long time. Being down inside the gorge with the thunderous sounds of tons of water rushing downwards makes one feel almost insignificant. It’s breathtaking as you look up to the observation walkway where people are in awe as they look over at the falls. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.

I also took another trip to Port Dover with my good friend. This time we had drinks on the restaurant deck overlooking the lake and enjoyed a perch dinner. The weather was awesome, company was wonderful and food and drinks were, well very yummy. Who knew 3 shots of rum in a single drink could make me see a duck that quacks? (lol) Our next visit promises to be filled with just as many laughs and good times.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

I hope everyone in Canada enjoyed the first unofficial long weekend of the summer. For those that are not familiar with Canadian holidays it was our Victoria Day weekend, better known as May 2 4 weekend. It’s actually dedicated to Queen Victoria to celebrate her Birthday. For Canadians she is the queen that started Canada on its road to independence. She gave permission to four British provinces in North America to form a confederation in 1867, creating the Dominion of Canada. This established a federal government in Canada with a House of Commons, a senate, and a justice system. The documents approved by Victoria remained in use until Canada ratified its own constitution in 1982.

The weather was absolutely fantastic adding just the perfect touch to the long weekend. I had a wonderful long overdue visit on Saturday with a dear friend and boy did we have a lot to catch up on. About 10 months ago my friend suffered a stroke that left her with some very extreme muscle debilitations as well as affecting her speech. It took so much out of her but she came back fighting and has started to make the most out of her life. To me, she is a very courageous woman and the strength and will inside her is just amazing. We sat for hours just catching up on the years gone by and how much fun we used to have when we were neighbours. She’s in town for a week staying with her son and we have already made plans to have another visit before she goes back home.

Another dear friend has ventured south from her northern home for some long overdue visits with her friends and family. She too is hopefully spending a week in town and I know when we visit with each other, the laughs, giggles and a weeeeeeee bit of gossip will keep us busy for a long time. Oh how I look forward to her visits because it doesn’t matter how much time goes by before we see each other there is never a dull moment happening. Look out Port Dover…here we come! Just picture the famous duo of Thelma and Louise and that’ll be us!!

Have a great week everyone!

Happy Monday

Yesterday was a fantastic day to celebrate Mothers Day. I hope everyone enjoyed their day, I know I did. My oldest couldn’t make it into town on Sunday so she dropped in on Friday with dinner in tow. It was wonderful to see her since everyone’s schedule is so damn busy now a days. We had a wonderful visit and with a hug and kiss she was off once again. I’ll see her soon though because she got my self and her a bit of mother daughter time at a spa to have a pedicure done! My other 2 came down and I was able to spend time with them and had a delicious bar-b-que to boot! So, yes, my day was wonderful!!! What more could a mom ask for?....J

I recently read a blog that reminded me why I had to make a drastic change in my life. It’s not an easy thing to be an outsider looking in and believe me that’s how I felt, and yes I AM allowed to feel whatever it may be. A year ago this past March I felt the first poke of the knife that would ultimately sever any remaining hope I had that I would be considered a valued friend and or co-worker. Over the course of that year I searched deep inside myself and asked myself many questions. It was hard to hear my own answers but that in it’s self opened up the door to my own strength. 3 ½ months ago in a very hurtful and demeaning incident I finally had the courage to do what needed to be done. I walked away and never looked back. Oh sure I cried many tears knowing that what I thought I had never really was, but that’s part of life. I was asked if I ever regretted what I did and you know something, I don’t. It was time. It was time to make a break from all that hurt me and made me doubt myself as an employee and as a friend. It took a long time for me to come to terms with the fact that even when I didn’t agree I never turned my back on the ones I considered my friends at that time, needless to say that was never returned to me. So, where am I now? I’m in a much happier place with friends that stand by me even if I am wrong. I have no regrets!!!!! What a wonderful place to be.

A-Z(ed)/Z(ee) Reflections.

I have to admit that finding a topic for the A-Z Challenge was truly a challenge, but I loved it. There is nothing better than letting your mind wander and finding out that there is a whole bunch of things one can blog about. I started out on this challenge with just a few followers and now I have over 30, to me that’s a big accomplishment.

I tried to get to as many blogs as I could over the month of April and what a treat that was. I had countless laughs, connected with many of the blog topics and found myself intrigued and learning new things. I so enjoyed reading about all the different topics. It's wonderful to see the wide range of ideas. It certainly was a blast and I look forward to doing it again next year!!

Thank You to the Hosts and Hostess’s for making such an event possible.

Happy May :)

Now that the A-Z challenge 2012 has come to an end I’d like to thank everyone who stopped by for a visit. I’m rather new to Blogging in a world wide way although I’ve been a Blogger for awhile but always kept my sometimes weird blogs to a select view. I never realized how fun and interesting opening my blog up could be and being able to visit and read everyone else’s blogs. I’ve learned many new things and had major laughs as well. Thanks again and I certainly look forward to the A-Z Blogging Challenge of 2013!

Now that Spring is here, even though the temperatures have been fairly cold I began the long awaited renovations of the back yard. This is one project I really have been looking forward to. A few years back my father and other half decided that a huge wooden box garden would look just wonderful in the yard. I was against that project but it was 2 against one so one day while I was at work they began their project. It was 8’ long and 3’ high and plain old ugly. To me, it was nothing but an eye sore and I really wasn’t happy about it at all. The first 2 years this garden did yield some delicious vegetables, but after that my father lost interest and the other half never had enough time to keep it going. It slowly turned into a neighbourhood litter box and a huge stage for the dog to jump up into and look out over the yard like a king on his throne.

Well, the box garden no longer is intact and every ounce of the first 8”s of the dirt has been disposed of; I’m slowly filling in all the holes in the yard. I have revamped the pond area by filling the surrounding area in with more dirt giving the illusion of the pond being on a slight hill. Once gardening sod is in season I’ll be softening the look with grass and stones and before long the pump will be turned on once again. There is nothing more relaxing then sitting close and hearing the sound of running water splashing and rippling in the warm afternoon sun. I guess I’m really trying to bring a bit of the country woodland into a city setting. I can’t wait until it’s actually planting season. I have a feeling I’m going to go nuts this year!

So bring on the Sun and warm temperatures!!!!
