Happy April

What a wonderful sun shinny spring day! At least at this point it is. I’m sitting at work, the sun is shining into the office making it feel warm and inviting for a change. It is calling for cloud and rain, but the temperature is supposed to get up to about 7 today. When I arrived this morning, it was still rather frosty but my eyes travelled to the garden at the center and low and behold the green tulip leaves have sprouted and pushed their way up passed all the dead leaves and brown mulch. I saw 2 robins hopping about the parking lot indicating MY first official feeling of Spring. A new season brings new beginnings in every avenue of life.

I’m not sure what I would classify the past week. It’s really been a roller coaster of emotions which will be one for the books. I did spend a bit of time by myself and took a very long walk on Saturday. I wasn’t sure where I was going, but with my mini mp3 player tucked into my coat pocket and my ear phones securely in my ears I began to just walk. I think deep in my mind I knew where I would end up and sure enough I did. I had a nice chat with someone that I haven’t spoken to in a very long time which made me feel better and then off I went again making my way back home. I was able to clear my mind and emotions and as I stepped back into the house I felt good. I even did some major house cleaning which was sorely needed. Walking really is good for blowing out some cobwebs and clearing your mind.

I am kind of torn about my up and coming trip to the north this summer. I have been checking out the different forms of transportation and the costs. I have totally stricken off taking the Grey Hound since it would take forever to get there, plus the fact of sitting all cramped up for that long is not an enjoyable thought. My friend mentioned taking a small plane ride from Toronto and after checking it out online it’s a very good idea since the cost is well within my budget and the airport in the north is a short drive to my friends place. The other idea I am tossing around is going by train. Now the cost is a bit more and the travel time also is a major downfall, but damn it sounds like fun!

I have been paying close attention to my surroundings and I can say that my eyes have been opened in more ways than one. If I’m to be honest with myself I guess I believed only what I wanted to believe and even though time after time actions spoke louder than words, I refused to see what was before me. I did try to not take things personally but well after so many times of being smacked with the invisible anvil it’s rather hard not to take things personally. Sometimes “pulling up the big girl panties” and “sucking it up princess” does not hold true. There are times when you just have to go with your gut instinct and move to more comfortable and rewarding phase in your life.

"Every man has three characters—that which he exhibits, that which he has, and that which he thinks he has." (Alphonse Karr)
